Preparations for European Youth Olympic Winter Festival continue at full steam in Erzurum, which is one of the most important winter sports centers of the Europe. Accordingly, the trainings of the volunteers that will work in the festival are being done in Erzurum.

Volunteers who will take place in the organization came together in Erzurum Atatürk University’s School of Physical Education and Sports and got educated about the importance of the EYOF and received a basic training according to their field of choice.

Levent Önal: “Volunteers are very important”

EYOF 2017 Erzurum Director of Volunteers Mr. Levent Önal told that their initial application process had completed between October and November and they created a very efficient volunteers group after detailed evaluations.

Mentioning the importance of the volunteers in such organizations, Mr. Levent Önal continued as follows; “No matter what they do, volunteers are always the fun and animating faces of the organizations. We are trying to impose them this idea. And since they are students of the Atatürk University, they are all aware of their role. All together we created a great team. We are telling them about the spirit of EYOF and their important role in this great sports festival. Volunteers are the most important faces of this festival”

EYOF Excitement of the Volunteers

Kemal Gökay Erhan who is a volunteer from the Schools of Communications in Erzurum Atatürk University, expressed his feelings as follows;

“I’ve never been in such an organization like this. I’m very happy and very excited to be a part of this event. We will represent our school, city and country in the best way we can.” 

Another volunteer, a 4th grade student Berkan Özkan also stated that he is very excited and lucky to live such an experience.

Ebrar Uludağ, student of English Teaching School expresses her feelings as follows; “We feel so lucky because we are the students of English Teaching School and this is an international organization. Chance to meet with foreign cultures in hour home town is beautiful thing.”

“Foreign volunteers love Erzurum”

There are also foreign students in Atatürk University who will take part as volunteers during EYOF 2017.

We talked with Noah Mahşi who is studying Mechanical Engineering; “I’m very excited. Erzurum is a beautiful city. It is very cold but we used to it.”

Foreign students from Palestine also expressed their feelings as follows;

Huzeyfe Türkmen; “I’m making master’s degree in Nursing School. Of course we are excited a little bit. This is very important for us. We will be part of a very important organization and will have lots of experience at the same time.”

Muntasır Şahman; “I’m from Palestine and studying dentistry. I’ve been living in Turkey for three years now. This will be our first experience and of course I’m so excited. I’ve never worked for such a good organization”



Volunteers to take part in European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF) 2017, which will be organized in Erzurum between 11th and 18th of February, started their preparations for the event.
